At the end of December, hackers broke into the EXMO cryptocurrency exchange. Initially, it was about the loss of about 5% of total assets, but later the exchange clarified that it had lost 6% of funds.

Hacker-blackmailer and founder of Nexus Mutual Hugh Karp (damage — $8 million)
In addition to exchanges and DeFi projects, hackers also came to the attention of individuals. In December, an attacker withdrew more than $8 million in NXM tokens from the personal wallet of the founder of Nexus Mutual, Hugh Karp.
Karp approached the hacker via Twitter with an offer of a $300,000 reward and termination of the investigation for a refund. The latter replied. However, he did not agree to return the funds just like that. The hacker stated that he would not sell tokens until the rate rises or until Karp transfers 4500 ETH to his address.
